Drug Proving

Drug proving in Homeopathy is unique since it involves study of effects of drugs in Human beings and not animals as in other systems of medicines. Importance is given to Subjective symptoms than signs (which are objective). Since a human can express his feelings and can speak, accurate study of effects of drugs on the Mind (mental level) is noted. Volunteers who are healthy individuals are used to prove various drugs. Proving of one drug may take up to several weeks since the prover has to maintain a diary and note down his symptoms on a day to day basis. The Physician is considered the best prover since he actually knows what is going on physiologically and psychologically. This drug is proved on individuals with varied constitutions to form an exact constitution of the individual.

Vital Force

Every individual is considered healthy only if his Body, Mind and Soul are in equilibrium. This equilibrium is actually maintained by what is called the Vital Force. In health the vital force is in its mean position. While in diseased state it is considered to be deviated from its mean position. It has to be brought to its mean positions by the use of medicines, which are powerful enough to counteract on the disease and to remove it from the body.

Miasms

Miasms can be defined as the determinants of the health or the disease state of the individual. There are four types of miasms identified by physicians in which all the individuals can be categorised viz; Psora, Syphilis, Sycosis and Tubercular. Each has its unique categorized set of symptoms and constitutions and all individuals have to fall into either or them.

Simply put Psora will include all superficial manifestation of the disease such as skin diseases, Mental diseases and disorders. These type of patients are very hyperactive and may even be idiosyncratic (people who react to stimulus in a very abnormal way and in a very hyperactive fashion).

The Sycosis miasm includes people who have a sluggish constitution and suffers from disorders that make them even more sedentary and slumped. These people normally have a lymphatic constitution and suffer from enlarged lymph nodes and similar other ailments.

The Syphilitic miasm includes people who have destructive tendencies both mentally and physically. They normally suffer from destructive diseases such as cancer. People in this phase have to take extra care and precaution to avoid any severe physical complication. Homeopathic medicines can prevent.
