Mr. Raju C. Dhotre

Raju C. Dhotre Raju C. Dhotre
Raju C. Dhotre, was in his final year of graduation when his younger brother was diagnosed with kidney failure. Coming from a family of six brothers, of which only the eldest was working, he experienced financial and emotional pressures that came with the situation. Whilst he kept his brother company, he learnt the basics of how the dialysis machine works. It was simple for him to follow as he was a zoology student.

Despite all the efforts his brother passed away. Raju felt that if he was also working in the hospital in some capacity he could have looked after him better. This was one of the main reasons why he became a kidney dialysis technician. He started working with the same nephrologist who was treating his brother. He has been in the field for the past 10 years.

He is now keen train others to become kidney dialysis technicians as there are only a handful of them in Pune. He is also keen to make dialysis available at concessional rates to those who cannot afford treatment. He feels that supports group are pillars of strength that go a long way to clear misconceptions associated with the condition.
