Common Games for Children

Here are a few common and easy games that you can arrange at the time of a Kids Party

Pass the Parcel

Wrap a bar of chocolate (or some other gift), in a layer of paper. Now wrap it in another layer and repeat until you have about 10 layers. Finally wrap it in gift paper (so it looks nice).

 Highlights

Life As a Parent

You & Your     Baby

Emotional     development
    of a child

Height & Weight     pattern

Children's Sleep

Sit everyone in a circle and play a short snippet of music. When the music stops, the person holding the parcel removes ONE layer of wrapping. Repeat until the last layer of wrapping has been removed. The winner keeps the present.

Pass the Parcel with Forfeits (or Punishment)

As above but every layer contains a forfeit (E.g. sing a song, eat a teaspoon of mustard, have your belly button filled with water, dance to a jingle, tell a joke etc.).

Musical Chairs

The old favorite. With one fewer chairs than people, a short snippet of music is played while the people move around the room. When the music stops everyone tries to sit on a vacant chair. (Only ONE person per chair) The person who doesn't find a chair is out. One chair is taken away and the game continues until only one person (The Winner) is left.

Pass the Orange

Arrange for teams of about 8 to stand in a line, one behind the other (arranged boy, girl, boy,...). Give each team an orange which the first person should tuck under his chin. This should be passed to the person behind. When the orange gets to the last person, they come to the front of the line and start again. The winning team is the first one which gets their starting person to the front again.

Reverse Trick or Treat

Give each of the players a bag with 10 pieces of wrapped candy in it. Have the players write their names on their bags so that the bags don't get mixed up. Decide on a time limit. If you are giving a party, you could keep the game going the entire time, even while you are doing other things. The object of the game is to catch people saying one of the following words:

Halloween, Candy, Witch, Party, Ghost, Pumpkin

It might be helpful to write the words in large letters on a piece of paper and tape the paper up where everyone can see it. If you catch someone saying one of the words on the list, that person has to give you a piece of candy from their bag. The person who has the most candy at the end of the game wins a prize. And, of course, everyone gets to keep any candy they have left in their bag.

Pin the Tail on the Donkey

Number of players: Unlimited

Equipment:
A picture of a donkey missing its tail
A donkey tail
A blindfold

Each of the players are blindfolded and spun around 3 times. They are then pointed in the general direction of the donkey. They then have to try and pin the tail in the right place. Whoever is closest wins.

Spot the Difference

There are two pictures that are almost alike, but with a few differences. The aim of the game is to spot these differences in as short a time as possible. You can either play these games on the computer or print them out for your child. Either way, it is a lot of fun!
