Page 1 of 2 Medi + Claim
Medi + Claim In this policy, the Insured gets the benefit of Hospital as well as Domiciliary Hospitalization Benefits, which mean medication for a period exceeding three days, wherein the insured was being treated at home, whereas in the normal course of circumstances, the Insured would have been confined to a hospital/nursing home.
The reason for this being
- The patient was too ill to be transferred to a hospital, or
- Hospitalization was not possible due to lack of accommodation therein. Domiciliary Hospitalization excludes certain diseases such as Asthma, Bronchitis, Hypertension, Psychiatric Disorders etc.
Insurance is also extended for any one illness, which means a continuous period of illness, including a relapse which may occur after a lapse of 45 days after the last date of consultation with the hospital, where treatment may have been taken.
Post Hospitalization care is included for 60 days after Hospitalization by way of medical expense coverage.
The claim does not cover pre existing diseases. A few diseases other than those mentioned in the clause which occur during the first 30 days from the commencement date of the policy like cataract, hydrocele, hernia etc. are not covered during the first year of insurance cover.
The policy does not provide coverage during pregnancy. The same may be obtained however, by group coverage with a loaded premium of about 20-25%
Family coverage is applicable for a family with two children only.
