Epilepsy Marriage Bureau

Sanvedana Foundation, Pune’s Epilepsy Support Group has completed four years on 22nd Feb 2008! We work in no profit no loss basis. We know that it’s a long way to go, we have to achieve so many things yet; but at least it’s a mile stone for us to think of the progress and to start some new activities.

Epilepsy Marriage Bureau

In Pune’s epilepsy support group most of the people with epilepsy are around 18 to 35 age-group. The reason is simple: For the kids with epilepsy, their parents have to take initiative. But after 18, our friends with epilepsy gets motivated themselves and they start coming regularly. We always arrange the activities according to that age group. From the beginning we found that for this age marriage is a very common and important issue.

All the parents and people with epilepsy are always worried about the marriage and the future life.

One of the parents Mr Mohan Phatak took the initiative, and he started Sanvedana Foundation’s marriage bureau one year back (Feb 2007). We wrote the articles on this subject in local news papers (Oct 2007), and got tremendous response from all over Maharashtra. To be precise, not only from Maharashtra but also from Marathi people settled in the other states, who read the article online. Up till now more than 200 people with epilepsy have registered in our marriage bureau. We feel honoured to write that up till now 5 couples has got married, in which all of them are our group’s members, living with epilepsy. Few more couples are engaged, they will get married in this year.

We are connected to other self help group’s marriage bureaus as well. For example, orphan’s marriage bureau, dermatology self help group’s marriage bureau etc. If a person with epilepsy doesn’t want to marry with the person with same problem, he/she may get another choice with the different problem.

Get Together Plan of Marriage Bureau

Sanvedana Foundation has arranged a Vadhu-Var melava for peple living with epilepsy, or for the people who are ready to marry with a person with epilepsy. This get together is on 11th May 2008, in Apate Hall, Apate Road, Deccan Gymkhana, Pune:411004. More than 200 patients and their parents are coming for that. This get together will be for the introduction of prospective bride and grooms. Please contact: 9822008035, 9850887644 or 9370049935.
