Says Dolly Rizvi, Director, CPAA, "For most cancer patients who come from the villages, the problems begin after the treatment is over. Because they are poor, they cannot afford to buy even the basics, their medicines, food and so on. The CPAA helps them out in these areas. "Besides this, the CPAA also organizes several awareness programs throughout the year. They also help make the patients feel good by organizing the National Rose Day on Sept 22, wherein cancer patients are visited by well wishers and social workers and given roses, the 'No Tobacco' day on May 31, several sporting activities and free check up camps not just in Pune but also in the surrounding villages. The CPAA also has a play group for children suffering from Leukemia at Inlaks and Budhrani Hospital. |
