Appendicitis Surgery Treatment

There are two main techniques in which an appendicitis surgery treatment is done – one is the traditional appendectomy surgery and the other is a newer and more advanced technique known as laparoscopy. Both surgeries are done under anesthesia, so the patient feels absolutely no pain of the surgical invasion.
The appendicitis surgery treatment by appendectomy is done by making an incision of about two to three inches in the skin of the abdominal wall near the McBurney’s Point. This skin is then gradually lifted, and the exact position of the appendix is located. The appendix is removed, and if there is any other inflammation, necessary measures are taken to remove them also. Once the appendix has been removed, the area of the large intestine, known as colon, from where the appendix has been cut off is sewn together. This is the simplest form of appendicitis surgery treatment.
