As part of the move the state government has approved ‘Sushrutha’ project besides formation of a State Health and family Welfare Council
The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated a number of moves to pep up health care system in the state.
Approval of a project called ‘Sushrutha’, which aims to establish 22 state–of–the–art operation theaters (OTs) in Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad and establishment of AP Health & Family Welfare Council are among the parts of the move.
The operation theatres will be built in a consolidated manner in one floor of the hospital with international standards and high efficiencies.
A centre of excellence in surgical skills with a super specialty course in anesthesia and super–specialty para–medical and nursing courses will also be created as part of the project.
The project will cost an estimated Rs 25 crore and will be implemented based on a managed services model, which enables organisations transfer management responsibility as a strategic method for improved operations.
The government has also approved to establish AP Health & Family Welfare Council to advise the government on policy, strategy and program priorities similar to the National Council.
The Council will be headed by the Chief Minster and will have representatives including Ministers of relevant departments, experts in the public health and officials.
The government has also directed to establish District Vigilance and Monitoring Committees for effective monitoring and to enforce financial discipline in NRHM programs.
