Though she was immediately brought to Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (Kims), she was declared brain dead on June 21 night. In the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, doctors procured her kidneys, liver and eyes. Her liver was transplanted into a 68–year–old former actor–politician from Bhimavaram.
One of her kidneys went to a 43–year–old man, a software engineer from city and the other one to a 34–year–old man working in the administration department of a college at Kims. Both the recipients were on dialysis and were waiting for the organ for the last one–and–a–half year. Her eyes were donated to L V Prasad Eye Institute. Gowri is survived by her husband P Chalam, deputy superintendent of police at the police training centre, Kadapa and two daughters. "This is something she would have liked very much. She was socially conscious," Chalam said.
