Doctors seek remedy to end impasse
The core committee of the healthcare industry has sought a meeting with the General Insurance Public Sector Association (GIPSA) to resolve the cashless imbroglio that has left Mediclaim policy holders in the lurch.
Gen Vijay Krishna, CEO, Breach Candy Hospital and president of the core group, said, "We have written to GIPSA for a meeting and hope that the PSU insurance companies respond positively to our suggestions."
The core group consists of representatives from the Association of Hospitals (AOH), Association of Medical Consultants (AMC), Bombay Nursing Home Association (BNHA) & Bombay Ophthalmic Association (BOA).
In July, GIPSA decided to extend the cashless facility to only those hospitals that are a part of the Preferred Provider Network (PPN) to prevent losses resulting from higher claims. GIPSA, a body comprising four public sector health insurance companies, has also come out with a rate card for various medical procedures, which has to be adhered to by hospitals that are part of the PPN.
