Ever heard of the junior college admission process being conducted inside a car for a student who is sick? That’s what happened at H R College of Commerce and Economics on Wednesday.
Jai Zaveri, a student who made it to the merit list of the college, has been down with malaria. His family members brought him to college by car, but the boy was too weak to make it inside the college. So H R College (junior college) vice principal Anila Pillai went out of her way to ensure the boy’s admission was done without causing him any discomfort.
Pillai walked down to his car, got inside and interviewed him. "We got his signature too, as that’s necessary for admissions," she said. His admission formalities completed, an ID card was issued to Zaveri."This is just a small gesture to show that we care for our students," said Pillai.
"I’m overwhelmed with my staff and students. As a college, we have always been customer–centric.
Students are our customers and we need to treat them with care. Education should go beyond academics and I am happy that the college has inculcated a culture of caring and sharing among the staff and students," said H R College principal Indu Shahani.
