Accused Of Fleecing Patients With False Promises
A criminal case was slapped against the management of an infertility centre in the city on Friday following a complaint lodged by 20 women. The women, who met police commissioner P S R Anjaneyulu, alleged that Shrusti IVF Centre had duped them with a promise to make them pregnant through IVF procedure and collected huge sums.
The women complained that not only Namratha had failed to keep up her promise but continued to deceive them with fresh promises and collected more amount.
"She has not given us a single evidence of the drugs she had used and medical reports during the medication. She has collected nearly Rs 4 lakh from each of us," a woman stated. The victims also met principal secretary, health, P V Ramesh, who was in the city.
However, the infertility centre has denied the charges saying that IVF procedure is highly sensitive. "We have briefed all those who had desired to undergo the treatment about the success rate of the treatment well in advance," a spokesperson of the centre said. "They might be distraught for not getting the desired result of having a child. But our conscience is clear and we had followed the procedure perfectly," the spokesperson added.
