This set–up promises to be less of a typical hospital and more of a home away from home. With spouses nursing each other, the ‘hate–hospital’ factor won’t be a bother. The environment will be such that patients from remote villages will feel comfortable and at home.
Cardiac surgeon and Narayana Hrudayalaya chairman Dr Devi Shetty on Friday said the hospital will be launched in Mysore in a few months to cater to the rural populace.
The Rs 18–crore project is small compared to the money spent on urban multi–speciality hospitals with features like complete air–conditioning, hi–tech beds, elevators.
“A farmer can get intimidated with such opulence. All he needs is a home–like environment and enough care. We are trying to teach the spouse some small things that nurses usually do,” explained Dr Shetty. “Fresh air and sunlight are the best sanitizers. It is a misconception that every place at a hospital has to be air–conditioned,” he added.
