The mobile lab, equipped with latest instruments, will conduct tests at half of prevailing rates, the trust claimed.
Shivajirao Bhosale Mobile Pathological Lab, developed by the Shivajirao Bhosale Pratishthan, will be operational from August 1.
The air–conditioned mini–bus converted–mobile lab is fitted with latest equipment to collect blood samples and has centrifugal machine to prevent blood clotting.
The mobile van has a urinal to collect urine samples. “Samples will be collected in different parts of the city as per patients requests and will be carried safely to the stationary laboratory for tests. Reports will be delivered on the collection spot on the same evening,” said Anil Bhosale, trustee, Bhosale Pratishthan.
He said, “Mobile pathological laboratory is meant to serve patients who cannot travel to labs and wait for long hours for reports. In addition, the lab will charge just half of prevailing rates for various tests. It is possible as plan is based on no profit–no loss.”
To begin with, mobile lab will operate in Shivajinagar and Kothrud areas. A group of 30 patients can call the mobile lab on 020–25512111 and give samples at the place convenient to them. Reports will be delivered at same place in the evening, said Niranjan Phadke, who has conceptualised the idea for the trust.
The mobile lab will collect samples for more than 40 tests done at regular pathological labs. The trust plans to have more mobile pathological labs to provide service in other parts of the city too, he added. Power minister Ajit Pawar will inaugurate the mobile pathological lab at Shivajinagar on Thursday.
