Peer Pressure One Of Biggest Worries: Survey
While parents felt that fear of failure (20.8%) is the biggest concern of children followed by inability to balance between studies and hobbies and peer pressure (16.7 % each). Communication gap with parents and low selfconfidence were the two other worries with 8.3 %. each.
None of the students in other cities except Madurai felt that ill-treatment was a concern. In Nagpur, Patna and Madurai, unfairness to a religion and inferiority with body size was a thing to worry about. Except in Agra and Madurai, lack of support and help from friends was not an issue at all.
The study was carried out to identify issues and concerns of children for the ‘School Cinema’ project. It focuses on making educational and entertaining films targeting children, parents and teachers, along with a fun and exciting workbook. “The study report will be given to noted eminent Bollywood filmakers to make films for us. So far we have done 48 movies for Class 1 and 2, Class 5 and 6 and Class 7 and 8 for this academic year. The total is 10 films for children, 1 each for teacher and parents. We touch upon various topics like social skills, health, hygiene, values and ethics. These are short films of nearly 20 minutes duration,’’ Syed Sultan Ahmed, managing director, Edumedia Pvt Ltd, told TOI.
