The Medical Informatics Group (MIG) of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C–DAC), Pune has successfully completed the rollout phase of Odisha Telemedicine Network (Phase–III) program.

The Odisha Telemedicine Network was inaugurated and launched at the hands of minister of health and family welfare, government of Odisha, Prasanna Acharya in Cuttack on November 25.

"In previous phases, the telemedicine technology already benefited thousands of patients who suffered from major illnesses. In fact, telemedicine is most beneficial to poor people as it avoids travel and related costs in most cases by facilitating a specialist to assist the local physician in the treatment," Prasanna Acharya said in a release.

Odisha Telemedicine Network (Phase III) is being implemented by C–DAC, Pune as a Build–Maintain–Transfer project at 25 sites for running telemedicine services in Odisha for the next two years.
