The civic body has set up a 24-hour helpline for citizens affected by the monsoon’s vagaries, be it flooding or diseases like malaria.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that four doctors would be stationed in its disaster control cell to answer the queries asked on the emergency number 108.
"Whether it’s on malaria or something else, all doubts concerning monsoon-related diseases will be clarified. We want to fight these ailments on a war footing this year," said a civic official.
Also this year, the corporation has, for the first time, introduced a hotline that will help its disaster control cell talk to other agencies in the eventuality of a flood.
"We will be in touch with officials from the transport department, police, railways, BEST and agencies like the MMRDA and Mhada during the monsoon. This will ensure there is proper coordination," said another civic official.
