In the past two months medical and health department officials have raided more than 12 clinics of quacks. The quacks have become major threats to the lives of people. Most of them fled before the police could arrest them.
A few days ago, a boy died at Bandikui in Dausa while undergoing treatment at a quack’s clinic. The boy’s parents lodged an FIR against the quack. Officials said on Thursday that the quack is still at large. In a similar incident, a quack’s clinic in the Kadel area of Ajmer district was raided but he fled after locking his house and clinic. Department officials claimed the quack might have been informed about the raids.
Also, a quack in Boli area of Sawai Madhopur district fled after the medical and health department officials raided his clinic. Block medical and health officer Hans Raj Meena said, “The quack was not a resident of the area and for the past few months he was operating his clinic. But, when we raided it last month he fled.”
Around four days ago, the department also raided a clinic in the Dhod area of Sikar district. But, there also the accused quack fled even though the department had registered an FIR against him. Sikar CMHO B L Saini says, “In the past few days, we have registered FIRs against three quacks. Two of them were arrested while one fled. We have decided to take strict actions against quacks and in the coming days, we will raid other quack’s clinic in the district.”
Medical department officials claimed the local residents help the quacks to escape police action. An official said, “Some influential people in the area help them to flee.” He said most of such quacks give allopathic medicines to the patients and claimed they could treat infertility, male and female diseases, but such doctors only duped people and earned money illegally.
