It is developing a Hospital Management Information System wherein details of a patient’s treatment history will be available online at all hospitals
In a major IT initiative, the Haryana government has begun work on developing a Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) where all the records of government hospitals and dispensaries will be linked through a central database.
The system likely to be operational from next year will help patients in the city to get medical treatment at any hospital even if they did not carry the past records of their treatment with them.
"Now patients will not be required to carry any medical card and slip. They will be allotted a unique identity number and they just need to tell that number while visiting any hospital or dispensary in the state," a Health Department official said.
In this system, if a patient goes to any dispensary and gets treatment, he or she will be registered there and when the patient is shifted from there to another hospital, doctors there will be able to access details of the previous diagnosis also.
Also, in this, interconnecting system details of all the medical tests will be available at all hospitals and dispensaries online.
