Now, patients at the Adarsh Nagar Mental Hospital will be provided a "homely atmosphere" so that they recover quickly. The authorities have constructed rooms for the patients’ families on the premises. They will be known as family care unit. The new building which was inaugurated on Thursday by health minister A A Khan could house 16 families at a time. There are around 280 beds in the hospital.
Hospital superintendent R K Solanki said, "There are patients who could recover faster if they get a homely atmosphere. So, we decided to construct rooms for their families too. Now, the families could stay here." The patients would feel the affection of their families at a time they require it the most. Earlier, the patient were heavily dependent on nursing staff.
The rooms will have the facilities to cook so that homecooked food can be served to patients. "There would be resident doctors and nurses who would attend patients regularly," he said. Earlier such facility was missing as the administration used to allow only one person to stay in the hospital with the patient.
Also, the hospital opened four sub–speciality centres – psycho sexual, memory, sleep and headache. Each day the hospital would see patients of only one disorder out of the four disorders.
Also, the hospital would construct an inn on the premises so that the relatives of the patients do not have to stay far from the hospital. The inn would be constructed at an investment of Rs 50 lakh which would be provided by charity. The foundation stone for the inn was laid on Thursday
