Private insurer Bajaj Allianz General Insurance today launched Women Critical Illness Plan that covers eight major illnesses that women are prone to.
“The recent statistics by WHO on the fatality of certain women-specific illnesses was an eye-opener. As is the case world over, women in India too are becoming increasingly prone to some critical illnesses today, in comparison to a few years ago. Hence, we launched a Critical Illness plan to cover these ailments specific to women,” Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Chief Marketing Officer, Mr Tapan Singhel, said in a release issued here.
The policy provides a lump sum amount on the diagnosis of the illnesses during the policy term, as well as certain congenital disorders. In addition to this, the unique feature of this Women Critical Illness Plan is a Children Education Bonus for the future education of the policyholder’s children and loss of job.
While with the advancement of science though many of the critical diseases are now treatable, however, such critical illnesses cause a major dent to a family’s finances, he said.
“Since our existing Critical Illness plan did not cover some women-specific illnesses, the Woman Critical Illness Plan has been designed to address this need in particular. This plan not only helps her provide for the treatment of the critical illness but also secures her and her children’s future to some extent in case of loss of employment,” he said.
The Women Critical Illness Plan is available to women of age 25 years to 55 years and sum insured from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakhs.
The premium ranges from Rs 250 per year to Rs 5,500 approximately, depending on the age and sum insured. The lump sum amount is payable if the policyholder survives 30 days after diagnosis of the critical illness.
