To inform people about eight formulae for good health
About 300 doctors will be walking with an ‘aarogya rath’ along with Tulshibaug Ganpati Mandal on the day of visarjan, spreading the message of healthy living through street plays and other performances.
Stating that sedentary lifestyle leads to various health hazards like obesity, diabetes amongst people especially youngsters, the Pune Doctors Charitable Trust (PDCT) is taking the next step towards making Pune healthy with the aarogya rath (chariot for good health).
"The procession will move from Tilak statue to Alka Talkies chowk along with the rath and the doctors will be informing about the eight formulas for good health like meditation, exercise, Suryanamaskar etc. Female doctor’s group will perform lezim dance followed by a street play at the Alka chowk," said Arati Shahade, of Shahade hospital.
PDCT had organised a walkathon on April 7, 2013 on the World Health Day, completing a walk of 5 kilometers flagged off from Nehru Stadium through Bajirao road, Laxmi road and Lalbahadur Shastri road. They also held a cleanliness drive on World Cleanliness Day, wherein they organised workshops in all the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) schools.
During the ‘Arogya Rath’, senior doctors like Dr. K. H. Sancheti, Dr. Devyani Limaye, Dr. Arati Shahade etc will be felicitated. "It is first time that the doctors from Pune are coming together as a group and unitedly participating to spread awareness among the citizens of Pune. We are grateful to the Tulshibuag Ganpati mandal to co–operate with us and give PDCT a platform where we can meet and carry out our agenda," added Shahade.
