Since past seven years, Pune’s deputy Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Anil Valiv has been running a matrimony service for HIV positive people, which has won him many accolades. This weekend too, Valiv has organised a matrimonial meet for which over 100 people have already registered online.
Such meet is being held in Pune for the first time. He had been organising the matrimonial meet in various parts of Maharashtra.
Telling the reasons for conducting the matrimonial meet, Valiv said, "One of my college friends died due to HIV in 2006. He wanted to get married and have children, however was unable to fulfill his desire. After his death I decided to do something about it and I created the free of cost matrimonial website."
"People come from different part of the city. We even provide traveling expense to all women who come for the matrimony meet. All the participants are allotted a special number and they are given time wherein they introduce themselves and they also speak about what kind of life partners they are looking for," he added.
Valiv further said, "Only 20 per cent women come for the matrimony meet. We are working to increase the number of female participation. More than 80 per cent women are economically dependent on their family. We want more women to come forward and lead a happy life."
So far 100 registrations have come for the meet and only 20 females have registered themselves. This year Valiv is also calling doctors and the couple who got married after they met in the matrimony meet. The objective is to help these people share their experiences to raise their self-esteem.
